Woo, I made it to number four in a series! I haven’t been so committed to a blog post series in a while.
There’s just something about Instagram though, right? I just j’adore it. When all other social media sucks the joy out of life (Facebook I’m talking to you!) and leaves you in a pool of procrastination (oh, hi Twitter) Instagram is just dreamy. It speaks to my creative heart and organised brain – a gallery both aesthetically pleasing and perfectly proportioned is the dream I’m chasing.
I never realised how much authenticity makes a difference to social media engagement, but the numbers speak for themselves. I LOVE Instagram and Pinterest, and that’s where my dreamy numbers are. Okay, so I only have 800-ish followers on Instagram but for every picture I post, I get 100+ likes. That works for me. And Pinterest….well it’s my main source of traffic, along with being the most satisfying search engine around.
I don’t know if you’ve ever seen a gorgeous Instagram and checked out the authors gallery? Or even had a look at your own but it’s quite enlightening when you do. I noticed quickly that mine was messy, and that those who I liked had something in common — a theme, however tenuous it may seem.
Most of my favourite accounts share a few little traits I seem to be drawn to. Something a little less ordinary, be it in the composition or subject. I love all things nature, and as it goes – don’t love seeing endless beach pics! Who knew? I love those who get a little raw in their captions sometimes — a little honesty and vulnerability always has my vote.
With that in mind, I’m sharing my gallery, and that of some of my faves too. But first…here’s mine 🙂
Sara is THE dream. Her feed is full of gorgeous images of her life in the sticks, her cute as a button daughter and stacks of tiny little details from her day.
Okay, I know I said I didn’t love endless beach shots but this is the exception. My fgormer Koh Tao buddy Jennie isn’t a travel blogger or photographer, but her feed is BEAUTIFUL. She has such a knack with composition…..I am endlessly jealous. And she is dreamy to look at too I guess 😉
I am a total Anna fan girl, and can happily call her a mate too. She’s an amazing photographer (and travel blogger) based in Vienna for now. Her gallery is filled with nature at it’s wildest, and there are often cinnamon buns on her Stories too.
Rowena’s bio says: “Tea, florals & little snippets of life” and that’s exactly what her feed does.
I drool over her perfectly rustic flatlay shots and bowls filled with pumpkins…..it’s one of my happiest feeds to pontificate over.
