You may have noticed that things are looking a bit different on old Two Backpackateers. Well, you are right, there's a new sheriff in town (mwahahaha). Pour quoi you may ask? It's kind of a long-ish story. I'll keep it brief though because it has the potential to be incredibly dull too.
I have long wanted my own blog, and have tried it out a fair few times to no avail, as I've always managed to find something else to keep me busy. When Oli and I decided to go travelling it was the perfect opportunity to try again and even better, with a partner in tow to share the load.
You may remember we started out as a free wordpress hosted fomain 195daysofsummer? Yes, I know, we are indecisive.....
After a few months, I realised that I loved writing and running the blog, Oli did too and while we were travelling we got into a pretty good rhythm. I look back at those early posts and cringe at the crappy writing, the truly terrible photography and non-existent SEO but you know what? Whatevs. It was an experience that led me to the present brilliant moment. Oli really doesn't love working on the blog so much and hates me nagging him to finish a post......he won't mind me saying this. I hope.
This actually is turning out to be the long version of the story, sorry. Ok, so lets get to the nitty-gritty. What happened to Two Backpackateers and why have I gone solo?
Even though this totally makes me cringe, and let me qualify this next statement by saying that I am at the start of my career....I am a freelance travel writer. I actually am! I have had work published, I have a by-line (in Lonely Planet magazine) and for goodness sakes, I have about 200 blog posts out there on the interwebs with my name on them.
If you are a fellow blogger, you will know the importance of finding your niche and creating a brand, a space you are proud of and can promote yourself from. I didn't feel proud of two backpackateers and it didn't reflect what I was trying to say. Hence the re-brand.
What does this mean?!
Well, Wanderluce is still primarily a travel blog but it is not just for backpackers. It's for people just like me. People who bloody love beauty too. That's to say, if you like travel, you like looking nice, you don't want to sacrifice all your creature comforts but by nature -- you are still adventurous, this site is for you.
If that sounds a bit exclusive, I don't mean to be. I actually want Wanderluce to be a community of like minded people who, perhaps, haven't found a resource that fits. Maybe you just don't want to rough it, and maybe, like me, you find the idea of travelling WITHOUT CONDITIONER abhorrent. I'll repeat that, abhorrent.
Either way, I hope you like it and want to keep following my adventures. For all of you who have supported and followed this far, thank you so much. It's truly appreciated.
