Sam Sen Sam Place - Our Favourite Bangkok Guesthouse

When I first came to Thailand with Lucy back in 2012, she insisted that we stay at a Bangkok guesthouse called Sam Sen Sam Place. Having almost no idea about anything, other than a place called The Khao San Road, I accepted. Now, we've spent over 4 months in a combination of hostels, guesthouses and homestays, it's safe to say that "Sam Sen" has cemented itself as one of our favourite places to stay.

Sam Sen Sam Place is located in Banglamphu, the main traveller area in Bangkok, and just a 7 minute walk from the famous Khao San Road. The former hospital in which it is housed (it looks nothing like a hospital I assure you!) is on Sam Sen Soi 3, off Th Sam Sen.

All the staff are absolutely lovely, and even remember Lucy every time! They remember me, but as "Lucy's Friend".

It is one of the cleanest places I've ever stayed in. Even the shared bathrooms are pristine. We have, obviously, only stayed in the double rooms, and they too are as clean as fresh cricket whites.

The shared bathroom rooms start at 590 Baht (£12, $20) including breakfast, and the doubles with air con are 1400 Baht (£28, $48). But we think they're totally worth it.

As well as being close enough to Khao San, Sam Sen is surrounded by cafés and eateries. There are so many places to eat around here, many of which are cheaper than you find closer to Khao San. There is also the canal, and the river within a couple of minutes walk.

Finally, it's located opposite a temple, so it's lovely a quiet. You can also walk around the temple (for free). If you wake up early enough, you can see the monks going to collect their alms as well.

If you do decide to stay at Sam Sen Sam, tell them that Lucy (and Oli) sent you, we don't receive anything for this, but we like them to know that we love them!!
