This week I will bring up my 12th country this year, with a trip to the Oktoberfest in Munich. 12 countries is quite a few given that we've only just made it through September! The Oktoberfest is basically the best excuse anyone has ever had for drinking lots of beer, and consuming many 4 legged animals. I will essentially be emulating Henry VIII for the next 4 days.
As well as consuming copious amounts of beer, (which by the way is served by the litre. None of this pint malarkey for Ze Germans. They do things properly. I like that.) I will do my best to see a bit of Munich itself. This will be my second trip to Germany. The first of which was with work to Nuremberg - not exactly the most exciting or entertaining city the world has ever seen!
In order to blend in with the locals, I will be donning the traditional Bavarian Lederhosen. Basically I'll be wearing shorts in October...and it's forecast to rain. So we'll see how that goes, but chances are it will mean that we find we may not necessarily escape the week without a cold or two between us.
There are 7 of us going to Munich, all of which are friends from University, and all of which I am sure you will meet in the Oktoberfest round-up due to come sometime in the future when I have fully recovered. But until then, if you need me dial 0800-Oktoberfest and you should get through
