I loves me a good primer, I really do. With the right one, foundation slides on your skin like silk and it keeps your makeup where it should be, on your face.
I rotate between a few different primers, dependant on how I’m feeling that day and what effect I’m looking for. There isn’t really a big science behind it for me and I don’t worry too much about having different coloured primers to combat different issues, but all those jazzy primers are out there, so fill your boots if you are so inclined!
All of my top 3 primers are suitable for any skin type and universally offer radiance, as opposed to any colour correcting.
Guerlain L’or Radiance Concentrate – this one has gold bits in it! Pretty!
Clinique Universal Superprimer – this one comes in a gazillion variations but I love the universal primer.
Dior Skinflash Radiance Primer – this one has a jazzy brush applicator and the formula is gorgeous for highlighting too.
There are stacks of budget products out there also, but I personally don’t love anything too silicone-y. You know the type i’m talking about, Mac does one which is supposed to ‘mattify’ your skin. I don’t know why you would want ‘matte’ skin to start off with. Just add a bit of powder where you need it after you’ve applied your base.
If you want crazy long lasting, then Benefit have the 15 Hr Stay Flawless primer which really does act like a glue. I have used it and like the product…..BUT, it’s quite hard to apply as it dries so quickly. You have to buff it into your face in stages, and apply foundation pretty quickly which makes it a slightly bonkers experience. But, if you are into that whole fast paced application, then go for it ‘cos it definitely works.
Do you use a primer? Any top tips? What are your faves?
