Happy Sunday Beauty Bunnies,
Sunday is a day of rest, and I religiously observe this rule….often extending it to Monday, but less of that for now. One thing I love to do on a Sunday, is to have a good scrub and apply a mask — mainly because Sunday is a nice easy to remember day to complete my skincare routine on (you should really exfoliate a few more times a week than just Sunday!). Due to my (oft mentioned) problematic skin, I often avoid anything that looks a bit too, what…..jazzy? I don’t know what the word is but you know it when you see or smell it. Things that have “peel” or “acid” in the title are dead giveaways and anything that has too many flowers in it can jog on. But thats kinda boring, and working in premium beauty opened my eyes up to brands and products I would have shied away from before. I want to share a few of the lesser known heroes that even combination skin can wear! Enjoy.
Yeah I know, it’s pricy but use it once and I promise you won’t shout ‘Errrm did you say £65?!’ ever again. This beautiful blue bottle is my ‘can’t live without’ and I actually can’t believe I lived without it for so long! You only need 2 pumps once every few weeks (I only use it once a month to be honest) and you will awake to radiant, soft, dreamy skin. I can’t emphasise enough how brilliant this product is.
I’m a bit scared of cleansing balms. Yep, I said it. Shun me if you want to, I deserve it. I just love a soapy foamy wash off situation so oils and balms break me out in a sweat, and like most combi ladies, I presume that they will add their gloopy matter to my epidermis and manifest into breakout central. This luxurious silver bullet is something else, I love it. I get the lovely squeaky clean feeling without the ‘OMG I can’t move my face’ feeling, and I can confirm that my
It may seem a bit indulgent to use a water spray as a toner, but in this steamy English summer it’s a welcome cooler before bed and a nice gentle wake up too. Regular readers will know that I’m a huge fan of French skincare and Eau Thermale Avene is one of my favourites — bonus that they often pop into a lovely Boots 3 for 2 deal.
I have combination skin, which has the benefit of ageing slowly (wrinkles just won’t stick) but the curse of the 5 minute make up face. Basically, my make up lasts about as long as it takes for me to find my Oyster card…….it’s a curse I’ve come to live with and I find it best to take pictures at home and superimpose my perfectly made up face into the late night pictures of everyone else. Not really. I just use a good primer (Benefit Hello Flawless) and Fix+ to set my make up and keep it lasting until at least 9pm, when honestly, I like to be in bed anyway.
